Just last week a cousin sent me the deed to Jens Jorgensen’s (James Johnson Sr.) land in Brigham City and Annalee researched out some very interesting historical connections that explained it.

Other “new for the first time ever” history contained in this book are:

• the transcription of Lawrence Hoke’s thrasher invention and a picture of his patent
• the amazing revelation that Jens Jorgensen’s sister Maren also joined the LDS Church, but stayed in Denmark
• the story of the German twin boys who died before they were “baptized” and thus had no recorded names
• an updated and completely illustrated version of James Johnson’s mission journal
• stories of our miraculous connections with many previously unknown cousins with the very information we needed
• family “mini” reports of our Danish ancestry back to Jens and Marie’s (James and Mary Johnson) great-grandparents
• the updated version of the recipe for floating island pudding and
• the pattern for the heirloom knitted lace that adorns the pillowcases Grandma made for us.

We have done much more research in the Danish and German records, verifying and adding to much of the information we “inherited.” We tried to be as all-inclusive as we can in this book, resulting again in a very hefty volume without a hefty price.

All four of the uncles were there and took some time at the mike telling stories and jokes and generally making us all feel welcome. Many “made jewelery at the Jewelery store” as we made beaded earrings and leather wrist bands to help us remember the good times.

Earlier in the day, some of us went to Woodlawn cemetary to decorate graves and then over to Wayne and Jill Christensen’s home to swim. Many thanks to Susie Whitney and her family for their hours of work and planning that helped us put it all together.

It was decided that the M Joy and Hazel reunion would be held every 5 years, so the next one is scheduled for 2015 and the Paul Christensen family will be in charge. Hope to see you in 2015!!!

We will have a day-long BBQ out by our pool and open our home to all the extended family who would like to gather for a full day of family fun, laughter and visiting. To make the day complete, we will add the family traditions… my famous root beer floats, Wayne’s gourmet hot dogs, Mom’s (Zona) fabulous baked beans and any other family favorites you would like to bring!

If other, vigorous activities (besides swimming) are desired, there are two parks less than a mile from our home.

We have a spare bedroom, our air-conditioned 5th wheel with two bedrooms (sleeps 7), and in our personal, on-site “RV Park” we have RV Parking for up to 5 additional rigs available for those who are traveling distances to attend. We hope you will take advantage, and come to our “un-official” family reunion on the 19th!

Please let us know how many will be coming in your family and if you will be joining the old fashioned “sleep over” at the Wayne Christensen home & RV park.

Addendum from Eric: After talking to Wayne and Judy and Marcus and leaving a message with Gene, it is proposed that Judy sends out a follow up email.

After speaking with several of you and discussing it with my siblings, in addition to Wayne and Jill’s daytime swimming and BBQ and RV hosting, we would like to add a dinner Saturday evening at the Jewelry store building (assuming it is still not leased out instead). We propose that it be pot luck and feature maybe a few activities or presentations that will be light in scope. The calls we received expressed a thoughtful interest in holding the easy going dinner at the jewelry store building as it holds a dear place in many of our hearts.

So, expressing apologies for the confusion and drama, we, Don’s Kids, now invite you to activities as Wayne and Jill outlined in their email PLUS a dinner and evening at the Sahara Jewelry store on June 19th to start at 5pm.

It would be extremely helpful if you let us know if and how many of you will be attending. We know it will be a great pleasure to get together and visit one more time.

If you come into town on Friday, we are organizing a swimming party at Wayne’s home and maybe even a family temple session.  Lunch has been assigned to the families of Carl and Adele. In the afternoon, the Olympics (anyone have a ping pong table and/or a small pool table), jewelry making , the famous Diamond clip, more visiting, puzzles, picture taking, dress-up, preparation of skits, and many more fun things. Dinner has been assigned to the families of Vern and Paul followed by skits, the presentation of “Hazel…this is your life” and a goodbye dance and hoedown.

If you know you are coming, we need a count of how many people plan to attend as soon as possible. However, please come even if you don’t sign up. It will be loads of fun and you will be missed if you are not there.
